The A major military airshow always has a large static park of visiting aircraft from the armed services, visiting foreign military aircraft and a number of civilian types. Paul Johnson/Flightline UK reports. All Photography copyright of the Author. If the flying display dissappointed some military enthusiasts, then the static did make up in part with some interesting visitors from home and abroad including a very special first for Waddington. The Raytheon Sentinal R1 is the latest aircraft in the RAF inventory and will be stationed at Waddington with No V(AC) Sqn. Star for many of the enthusaists was the Hellenic Air Force RF-4E Phantom II which is becoming an increasing rare aircraft to visit UK shows and won't probably been seen in a few years time. A main focus of the show was the retirement of the Canberra PR9 from the RAF ending 55 years of service from the type. As well as the flying display there was a large exhibition devoted to the type centred around a PR9 and Air Atlantique's Canberra B2/6. As ever the static also included a number of civilian and historic types including a Hunter T7, Strikemasters and Jet Provosts.
