Dunsfold Wings and Wheels 2008 - PREVIEW
 24th August 2008

What?

The Dunsfold Wings and Wheels event was a new event to the airshow calendar in 2005 and is organised by the Brooklands Museum and Dunsfold Park. The aim of the event is raise money for a number of local charities. What makes this event unique is that not only is there a first class four hour flying display, but there are also motorsport demonstrations on the runway and a popular fly-in. The flying display reflects the history of Brooklands and Dunsfold, two airfields with strong links thanks the Hawkers and BAE Systems. Hunter, Harrier and Hawk were all tested at Dunsfold and their designs can be traced back to work performed at Brooklands. Today, Dunsfold is home to the Top Gear Studios and Test Track so the combination of aviation and motoring is highly apt.

(Last Updated: 21/08/2008)

Organisers of Wings & Wheels are disappointed to report that the Vulcan XH558 has been forced to cancel their display at the show this Sunday, 24th August.

In transit to the show from their base at Waddington, the Vulcan performed a scheduled landing at Brize Norton where she experienced an issue with one of her main undercarriage legs. The Vulcan crew has determined that the issue is significant enough to keep her grounded throughout the weekend.

Whilst disappointed, the safety of the Vulcan aircrew and visitors to Wings & Wheels are of the utmost importance and Wings & Wheels supports this decision.
