It will be two years on August 23rd since ‘Boss Bear’ departed from ‘The 2006 RAFA Shoreham Airshow’ with a friendly wave to the spectators from the rear of an RAF Merlin Helicopter on his travels.

Wow!! What a life it has been – flying over 2,000 hours in all different types of aircraft in countries all over the world.  He has met Royalty – Celebrities – and Ambassadors – visited the Houses of Parliament and stood outside the door of 10 Downing Street.

What is so different about ‘Boss Bear’ is that he was a gift from ‘The House of Lords’ and his minder Bob Franklin (who supports the RAFA Airshow Press Team at Shoreham) has been responsible for arranging his hectic itinerary.

The Pilots Log Book kindly donated by ‘Transair Ltd’ one of the Airshow Sponsors has every detail of all his flights with relevant information logged beside regarding his duties and his feelings to that particular sortie. The pilots and squadrons he has flow with have signed each page and in most cases provided their squadron badge to go alongside.

He has flow with the ‘Red Arrows’ and the team have signed the page – he has been to the USA and flow with the ‘Top Gun’ pilots all have signed with their added comments.  He was taken to the air with ‘The Indian Helicopter Display Team and The French Aerobatic Display Team’ seen action in Iraq and Afghanistan – completed four fly pasts over London – flown in the Eurofighter – Tornado – Jaguar – Nimrod and just about every RAF aircraft currently in service.  As for Civilian display pilots and teams he has done the lot from flying with ‘The Blades Aerobatic Team’ to wing walking with ‘The Guinot Team.’ Some of the attached images show just what he has been up to!

To commence his travels HRH Princess Alexandra signed the front page of the log book and we have a major surprise as to who will sign it off on August 24th.  All monies raised will help raise funds for “RAFA Wings Appeal’ and ‘Help for Heroes.’
