Royal International Air Tattoo 2011, RAF Fairford - 16th-17th July - Thursday Arrivals

Happily, Thursday has seen good weather throughout the day which hasn't ahmpered arrivals or the rehearsals at all. Early risers would have caught the US Navy P-3C Orion, US ANG KC-135R and US Navy E-6B. It was also good to finally see the B-52H Stratofortress arrive - a show at RAF Fairford would not be complete without one!

Stars of day however were the pair of Ukrainian Air Force aircraft. The Su-27UB Flanker looked absolutely immaculate in it's blue and grey camoflage. It's support Il-76 also looks stunning parked up close to the ANG KC-135R and pair of F-16CJ Fighting Falcons.
There were also quite a few rehearsals today. Both the Turkish Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon and BAE Systems Typhoon displayed twice while further rehearsals were conducted by the SAAB 105OE and Team Viper alongside the Swiss Tiger Hunter T68 and Jonathon Whaley's stunning F58a Miss Demeanour.

There were plenty of other interesting arrivals include the French Air Force Rafale C demo team, a very sporting arrival by the Luftwaffe Airbus A310MRTT as well as rare appearances by a French Mirage 2000N, Italian RSV duo of C-27J Spartan and Tornado IDS, German Army CH-53. Tomorrow looks set fair too so there is plenty more action to come!
