Portsmouth Air Festival, Southsea Common, Portsmouth - 18th August - Preview

In its inaugural year, the Portsmouth Air Festival aims to become one of the UK’s biggest free flying events. Nearly seven hours of flying displays are planned for the Saturday with activities also going on out at sea, whilst numerous other attractions will be available on the ground for the full weekend.

Southsea Common will provide the Festival ‘hub’ and will include a number of themed ‘villages’ including static displays, a craft village, food and drink retailers, a tri-services village and the Jack FM family village. There will be a Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon concert in the dedicated concert zone, plus some really quite special exhibits and acts performing in the main arena.

The festival organisers are very proud to be supporting the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity as their flagship charity. A percentage of the proceeds will also be shared with their secondary charities: ABF the Soldiers’ Charity, Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund and the Exercise Tiger Trust.

With all these events planned over the weekend, the festival promises to be a welcome addition to the air show calendar. Join their Facebook group, or follow them on Twitter to receive more detailed information. Don’t forget to keep checking Flightline UK for the latest show updates.
